Jönköping, Sweden
March 2008
It was early March and Spring was approaching. It was a very warm (in relative terms of course) seven degree Celsius and all I had on as I walked around the town that day was a thin cardigan over a spaghetti-strap top and a pair of jeans. It was warm enough not to warrant any thick jacket of sort.
Later that day, a friend of my mine told me the weather report showed that it was going to snow the next day and my immediate reaction was to laugh in her face. It was an extremely warm winter that year that even saw a snowless Christmas the year before, a first in a long time. There was no way that the first snow that Winter was going to be in March, or so I thought.
I woke up the next morning to the sounds of boisterous laughter coming from outside my window. Thinking they were kids who decided it was a perfectly sunny day to play outside, I quickly discover that the “kids” were actually friends, my age, who were outside frolicking in the snow.
The weather man was indeed right that day.
Though the snow, by Sweden’s standard especially, was rather pathetic, it was still the first snow that Winter. And it was indeed a sight to be relished.

Every photograph we take contains a story, but we often do not spend enough time sharing that story with others. Hence, Foto Friday was born to give some recognition to these forgotten photographs and the memories they hold. Taken over many trips (2004-present) using the author’s crappy cameras and whatever minimal photography skills she has, these photographs serve to give you a little insight into the author’s travels. And if you haven’t realised by now, they’ll be out on Fridays.
