Fishy Mornings
It was my second attempt in trying to make it in time for the (almost) daily maguro (tuna) auctions. I managed to wake up at 04:30 the day before as well, but promptly fell back asleep after switching off the alarm, getting up at 06:00 instead. That’s for going to bed at 01:00.

This time, I tried hard to get up at the ungodly hour of 04:30 and I actually did. But I forgot to take into account the travelling time. Living in tiny Singapore, I forgot that in other parts of the world, some places actually do take quite a long time to reach. And alas, I got there at 06:30, missing the auction just by a bit.

Not wanting to try going for the third time, and besides the next day being a Sunday, which meant that the auctions do not take place, I decided to just make do and go around the market to experience the after-auction process of cutting, washing, and of course, on my part that is, eating.

Every photograph we take contains a story, but we often do not spend enough time sharing that story with others. Hence, Foto Friday was born to give some recognition to these forgotten photographs and the memories they hold. Taken over many trips (2004-present) using the author’s crappy cameras and whatever minimal photography skills she has, these photographs serve to give you a little insight into the author’s travels. And if you haven’t realised by now, they’ll be out on Fridays.
